The former Marco Botti-trained Massaat filly Coco Jamboo was last seen in Britain finishing fourth in November’s Listed Fleur de Lys Stakes at Lingfield, after which she was bought for 160,000gns by an Australian syndicate at Tattersalls December Mare Sale.She made her first start Down Under in yesterday’s Gr.3 Hawesbury Crown over 1300m at Hawkesbury and won narrowly at a big price in a close finish where just over a length covered the first five home. She landed the spoils by just a nose from the New Zealand-bred Iffraaj mare Short Shorts.Bred by Mr and Mrs C Booth and Mrs S Cammidge, she had been bought by Marco Botti for 30,000gns at Tattersalls as a yearling and had won three of 14 runs in Britain, all over 7f, and finished placed nine times, including a second in a fillies’ heritage handicap at York. She is a half-sister to a multiple winner by No Nay Never and is her grandam is French Listed winner Beta (Selkirk), also second dam of Italian Listed winner and sire Wootton’s Colt. Beta is a half-sister to Gr.1 winners and sires Bago (Nashwan) and Maxios(Monsun), from the principally Niarchos family that also includes Machiavellian." EBN News
